Vaccination

Dogs may be at risk from many infectious and sometimes deadly diseases, protection from which is provided through vaccination. Each dog should have an initial vaccination course of two injections approximately two to four weeks apart, followed up with annual boosters. These vaccinations provide effective protection against the four main life threatening diseases:- Parvovirus, Distemper, Leptospirosis & Hepatitis, all preventable in a fully vaccinated dog!

Westway Veterinary Group provides a free puppy health check and four weeks free insurance with Petplan along with your puppies first vaccinations. This thorough health check helps detect any health problems early, and the free insurance covers you for any problems that may occur after the initial consultation (it will not cover any illness or injury present at the initial vaccination consultation).

Vaccination is safe and reliable, giving your dog the best chance of a long, happy, healthy life. We send out yearly reminders a month before your dogs booster is due, offering a discount if your dog is presented on time, along with the reminder letter.

Recently research has been undertaken with the finding being that protection against some diseases lasts more than one year. Taking this into account at Westways we vaccinate against the individual diseases within the appropriate time frame, whether annually or biennium.

At Westway we offer two separate vaccination courses, the basic, or the double plus vaccine. Depending on the course you choose the first vaccination can be given at 7 weeks, with the second being administered at 10-12 weeks, and if the double plus vaccine is chosen, an extra vaccination at 16-18 weeks.

Please remember vaccinations are a very important part of pet ownership, and the cost is inexpensive compared to treating one of the diseases they cover. Something else to remember is that no reputable kennels will board your dog without an up to date vaccine certificate.

Why not enquire about our Westway BOOSTER FOR LIFE special? This is a one off fee of £130, it does not include initial vaccinations, but means you will never pay for the booster vaccinations again! Your dog must be vaccinated to qualify for this offer.
