Westways were invited to come and give a talk to the Rotary Club in the summer. It was throughly enjoyable evening and the ‘Shouldn’t happen to a vet’ speech went down especially well!

Vet Amy Steel has moved from the Houghton surgery and is now responsible for the day to day running of the Whickham Surgery!

“I have worked for Westway since graduating from Liverpool in 2007, however my history with Westway goes back to ‘seeing practice’ whilst a school girl at St. Thomas More Blaydon. I did regular work experience at the West Road throughout university and I was offered a job on qualification. I’ve loved working at the Crawcrook and Houghton surgeries for the last four years however I’m very excited to now be responsible for the day to day running of the Whickham surgery. My interests as a vet are in soft tissue surgery.”

Amy Steel-Veterinary Surgeon, Whickham Surgery

Amy lives with her two RSPCA rescue cats Gracie and George, and her naughty rescue dog Milo, whose favourite pastime is disappearing for hours at a time, and chasing the local birds (pheasants)!

We would also like to welcome our new Veterinary surgeon Catriona Redman.

Catriona is originally from Teesside, and she graduated from Cambridge University in 2004. She has spent the last six years in a mixed animal practice before coming to work for Westway. Catrionas interests lie in ophthalmology and small animal surgery.  Outside of work she enjoys hill walking, travelling, eating out and going to gym.
